The dental implant procedure explained
You will need to book an appointment to determine if you are a suitable candidate for dental implants, All On 4, or implant-retained dentures. During this consultation, we will take X-rays, and CT scans, and examine your mouth to determine the shape and density of your jawbone, as well as the size and location of any remaining natural teeth.
Once it has been determined that you are suitable for dental implants, we will plan your procedure. This may involve removing any existing teeth if necessary. We will then place the implant into your jawbone and allow it to heal while waiting for osseointegration (where the implant bonds with the bone).
When healing is complete, we will take impressions of your mouth so that a custom-made abutment can be made. The abutment acts as an anchor for either a single crown or a bridge or denture. It is attached to the implant and sits slightly above the gum. We can then attach a crown, bridge or entire denture to the abutment. You will need multiple implants if you opt for a denture restoration.
Dental Implant Frequently Asked Questions
How can we help?
The entire dental implant process usually takes between three to nine months, depending on the individual case. It is a complex treatment that requires several visits, but it can result in a beautiful and long-lasting restoration of your smile.
We offer a range of dental implant solutions, including All On 4 implants (which can replace an entire arch of teeth with just four implants), traditional single-tooth implants, and implant-retained dentures (which secure your denture in place)
Dental implants are an excellent option for replacing missing teeth, as they offer a number of benefits. They provide a long-lasting solution to tooth loss, with results that can last for decades with proper care and maintenance. Dental implants are also more comfortable than other types of tooth replacements, such as dentures, as they do not require adhesives or regular adjustments. And finally, dental implants can also help to retain bone density in your jaw, which helps to keep your youthful face shape.
The implant should last a lifetime with the correct care, but the restoration may need to be repaired or replaced after around 10 years.
