The dental implant procedure explained
The first step in your journey is to book a consultation with our team. This will allow us to determine if you are a suitable candidate for dental implants. We will take X-rays and CT scans of your mouth and jaw, and examine the density of your jawbone. We’ll also examine your natural teeth and ask questions about your oral care habits.
Once we have determined if you are a suitable candidate for this procedure, we can begin to create your treatment plan. This could involve extractions, or we may be able to get started with placing your implants straight away. We will then leave the implants to heal in a process known as osseointegration. We can place a temporary denture or bridge during this time.
Once healed, the implant is then ready for the abutment, which will help to determine the shape of your gum contour. The abutment sits above the gum and holds the crown, bridge or denture in place. Once the gum is healed around the abutment, we can place the final restoration. If you have opted for a full-denture replacement, you will need multiple implants.
Dental Implant Frequently Asked Questions
How can we help?
Yes, it is possible to have all your teeth removed and replaced with dental implants in the UK. The procedure is more commonly known as a full-mouth reconstruction or full-arch restoration and involves replacing missing teeth with 4-6 dental implants per arch. These implants are then used to support a fixed or removable denture.
We offer a range of dental implant solutions, including All On 4 implants (which can replace an entire arch of teeth with just four implants), traditional single-tooth implants, and implant-retained dentures (which secure your denture in place)
Dental implants are an excellent option for replacing missing teeth, as they offer a number of benefits. They provide a long-lasting solution to tooth loss, with results that can last for decades with proper care and maintenance. Dental implants are also more comfortable than other types of tooth replacements, such as dentures, as they do not require adhesives or regular adjustments. And finally, dental implants can also help to retain bone density in your jaw, which helps to keep your youthful face shape.
The implant should last a lifetime with the correct care, but the restoration may need to be repaired or replaced after around 10 years.
